My name is Kenny Royer,
I am a senior in high school living in Williamson County and this is our second annual drive. I wanted to partner with Davis House Child Advocacy Center to help abused children who have nowhere to turn. Davis House is beyond inspiring. They are a beacon of hope for hundreds of children in our area whose everyday life is an inconceivable struggle with abuse. The average age of a victim in reported child abuse cases is 9 years old and over 90% of these children know who their abuser is but are helpless against them. Every child is innocent and needs our help, which is why Davis House needs people who are willing to help them so they can save as many kids as possible from their abusive relationships. Only 12% of abuse cases are reported. Last year Davis House was able to help 632 children which is only a fraction of the children that need help. To expand their outreach for the cases that are not reported and to support every child that they help, Davis House needs donors.
One of the unique things I learned about Davis House is that they give each child a stuffed animal to lift their spirits. This is not something you will find in their information or on their website. A stuffed animal reminds a child that they are not alone and that they are deserving of love and care. This stuffed animal process, to me, is one of the most special aspects of Davis House. The only avenue in which Davis House receives stuffed animals is by chance donations or having to purchase them. Upon realizing this I wanted to create a stuffed animal drive that everyone would know about and could contribute to. A stuffed animal is more than just a toy, it becomes a symbol of resilience and hope. These stuffed animals remind kids that they are deserving of care.
